19th century, including a William IV serpentine tea caddy with two covered interior compartments, h. 5-1/4", w. 7-1/2", d. 4-3/4", a Victorian donkey cart jewel case, h. 2-1/2", w. 5", d. 2", a Victorian dome-top perfume case with bottle, h. 2-3/4", w. 2", d. 2", a Victorian notebook with pencil, h. 4", w. 2-3/4", and two Victorian purses, one with a mother-of-pearl mount on the cover, h. 2-1/4", w. 3-1/4", and the other with a chain handle, h. 7-1/4", w. 3-1/2".

19th century, including a William IV serpentine tea caddy with two covered interior compartments, h. 5-1/4", w. 7-1/2", d. 4-3/4", a Victorian donkey cart jewel case, h. 2-1/2", w. 5", d. 2", a Victorian dome-top perfume case with bottle, h. 2-3/4", w. 2", d. 2", a Victorian notebook with pencil, h. 4", w. 2-3/4", and two Victorian purses, one with a mother-of-pearl mount on the cover, h. 2-1/4", w. 3-1/4", and the other with a chain handle, h. 7-1/4", w. 3-1/2".

  • Provenance: The Estate of Camille & Raymond Hankamer, Houston, Texas.
  • Condition: **CADDY: Typical scattered patches, minor blisters and restorations primarily around the flared "skirt". One paneled rear corner with a small loss (1/2" x 1/4") at top, a 2-1/4" vertical crack and patch on the skirt. There is a small restoration at one rear hinge. The rear side exhibits an area of shellac "drip".
    There is some buckling to the metal stringing at one paneled front corner. Interior banding somewhat discolored but intact. Velvet lining of cover exhibits wear and has pull away from sides here and there. The two compartment covers have a patterned tortoise with tan ground, the interiors retain remnants of the original paktong lining.
    CART: Cart, monkey driver and donkey all with nice detail. Tortoise surfaces with some buckling and very small split or two. Coach silk interior with scattered stains and has pulled away from the sides in places.
    DOMED CASE: Tortoise good. Blue velvet lining good. Interior banding a bit discolored but intact. Scent bottle interior cloudy. Stopper present but lodged in place.
    NOTEBOOK & TWO PURSES: The notebook and one purse have the same decoration. This purse with general wear with some elements having pulled away.
    Both with rubbing to gilt. Other purse exterior with oxidation to decoration.
    Blue moire-lined interiors of all three generally worn.
