George III Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase, early 19th century, the molded cornice above a case fitted with four astragal-glazed doors, the bottom section fitted with a central drop-front secretary drawer opening to a baize-lined writing surface and a variety of drawers and cubbyholes, over two paneled cupboard doors, flanked to either side by a deep drawer over a paneled cupboard door, raised on a plinth base, h. 85, w. 80", d. 22". Provenance: The Estate of Marjorie Abbey Morrison, Hammond, Louisiana.


  • Condition: In very good condition, with intact original pieces; the surface with a soft red amber patina. Very good structure and finish with many original shelves. The period oval brasses likely original; interior knobs likely original as well. The brass door dividers are patinated. Minor damage to the reeded edge on the top on each side. One glass pane is cracked.
