Fine Richard Ellis, Westminster, Chinoiserie Tall Case Clock, ca. 1800, the front of the case decorated with Chinese village scenes, the sides with foliate and bird decoration, with a time and strike movement, second hand dial and numerical calendar dial, h. 97", w. 20", d. 10".

  • Condition: The surface exhibits indications of later over-painting and touch-up, scattered inpainting and evidence of past paint loss. There are missing corner blocks on the bonnet, just beneath the shaped top. The top board is a later replacement. There is a loss to the carved fretwork frieze above the door, about 3/4" in diameter. A return molding on the base of the bonnet is detached but present. There is a straight horizontal shrinkage crack at a lamination on the lower section of the base. The works appear to be associated with the case. Polychromed pendulum, period weights and key are present.
