Twenty-One-Piece Davenport Porcelain Partial Dessert Service, post-1840, English, the set decorated with cobalt borders trimmed with pierced scrollwork, and central gilt medallions, including a tall compote, h. 8", dia. 18", a short compote, h. 5", dia. 9", four comports, h. 2-3/4", dia. 9-1/4", and fifteen dessert plates, dia. 9". Provenance: Estate of Alice Evans Pratt, Houston, Texas.

  • Condition: No cracks or noticeable chips (two plates with a TINY old flake chip to the foot). All plates have three TINY kiln marks on the foot. Very scattered minor rubbing to the gilt rim edges. One plate with rubbing a bit more visible at the edge and scattered within the reticulated portions. COMPOTES: All in generally good condition with faint shallow scratches within the recessed centers not affecting the medallions--do not appear to have been actually used. Very minor rubbing to a tiny edge or two of these medallions. PLATES: Eight plates with varying degrees of losses to the gilt medallions (medallion of one plate almost totally rubbed). However, there are no scratches to plates in recessed centers--apparently never actually used. NOTE: Most pieces are also marked "1453" in rouge-de-fer underneath.
