An Exploration of Chinese Export Silver
It is an outdated notion to see non-Western decorative arts as “exotic.” They are, after all, reflections of the culture that produced them, their designs deeply rooted in the traditions, spirituality and mythos of the artisans who created them. Even so, Chinese Export Silver is still marvelous to our eyes, richly ornamented with coiled dragons, bamboo thickets and scenes of everyday life with persons in attire and attitude so unlike our own.

The Estate of Martha Turner Bauguss
Martha Turner's style was as strong as the renowned real estate brand she built over more than thirty years. Elegant and uplifting, this collection reflects the extraordinary spirit of one of Houston’s grand dames.

The Estate of Ellis Sidney Joubert III
New Orleans Auction Galleries is proud to offer the collection of our late colleague and friend, Ellis Joubert. One of the South’s most accomplished silver- and metalsmiths, Joubert’s personal collection includes a trove of 19th-century New Orleans silver, flintlock and percussion firearms, edged weapons, 20th-century militaria, African and Oceania artifacts and much more. The broad scope of Joubert’s collection reflects his eclectic taste and inquisitive nature and vividly brings his deep reverence for history to life.

The Collection of Reverend Gerard F. Young
Father Jerry Young, a pastor from Baton Rouge, was drawn to the Great River Road, one of North America’s oldest, longest and most unique scenic byways, by its distinct architectural style. For four years, he worked tirelessly to bring the Helvetia Dependency, a pre-Civil War Creole house, back to its original character. Thanks to family, friends and his own antique-hunting adventures around the world, Fr. Young built a collection of furnishings with which he thoughtfully outfitted his Darrow home.
