Forty-One-Piece Collection of Chinese Export Blue and White Tableware, including nine soup plates, dia. 9", two dinner plates, dia. 9" and 10", nine bread and butter plates, dia. 7-1/2", a scalloped bowl, dia. 9-1/2", a coffeepot, h. 7", six tea bowls, dia. 3-1/2" to 4", and seven saucers, dia. 4-3/4" to 5-1/4", all mid-19th century, Canton, together with four Nanking dinner plates, ca. 1800, dia. 9-3/4", a blue and white leaf dish, fourth quarter 18th century, h. 7-3/4", w. 5-1/2", and a Nanking helmet-form cream jug, h. 4-3/4". Provenance: The Estate of Karolyn Kuntz Westervelt, New Orleans, Louisiana.


  • Condition: Eight of the soup plates have scattered losses and chips to the rims. Five of them have hairline cracks. One of the Nanking dinner plates has two chips to its rim. Two tea bowls have rim chips and three of them have minute hairline cracks. Four bread and butter dishes have scattered chips to their rims and hairline cracks. All tableware exhibits firing anomalies as to be expected with firing process.
