fourth quarter 19th century, cast signature and dated 1709 along left side of base, the personification of Fame wearing a laurel wreath and sounding a trumpet, after the ca. 1701 marble commissioned by Louis XIV and now conserved at the Louvre.

  • Condition: **In overall good condition with scattered surface nicks, abrasions and rubbing. Some pinprick-sized pitting at horse's neck. Well-integrated old repair to horse's proper left hind leg. Seam of fabric behind figure with some slight separation. Scattered small areas of oxidation. All consistent with age and material.
