After Pierre Gobert (French, 1662-1744), "Portrait of Louise-Elisabeth de Bourbon, Princess of Conti (1693-1775)", first half 19th century, oil on canvas, unsigned, erroneously titled "Louise de Bourbon" and attributed to Nicolas de Largilliere on old handwritten label on stretcher and on later artist plaque, 31-1/2" x 23-5/8". Framed. Largilliere painted several members of the Bourbon family in similar poses with the ermine-lined blue fleur-de-lis cape of royalty, including Marie-Anne de Bourbon, and the sitter's mother Louise-Francoise de Bourbon.


  • Condition: In generally good estate condition. Evidence of past restoration. Scattered visible old repairs, some corresponding with patches en verso. Four patches visible en verso. Dime-sized inpainting on forehead and in hair. UV light difficult to penetrate varnish layer. Small tear, approximately 1/2", at upper center edge. Faint abrading along edges where canvas meets frame. Faint stretcher shadow across center. Layer of surface soiling with faint craquelure.
