American Aesthetic Movement Parcel-Gilt Ebonized Library or Center Table, fourth quarter 19th century, probably New York, the rectilinear top over a frieze fitted with a central panel, joined by floral- and scroll-carved brackets to a trestle base with fluted columns and a carved stretcher, h. 31", w. 40-1/4", d. 25". By oral tradition the present table has a long history of ownership in New Orleans.

  • Condition: There are some carving losses to two of the corner brackets. Two others have old cracks and repairs. The table is sturdy. The surface appears to have been re-painted and the gold areas touched in. There is wear to the edges of the top and some dings and dents.
