American Aesthetic Movement Parcel-Gilt Ebonized Library or Center Table, fourth quarter 19th century, probably New York, the rectilinear top over a frieze fitted with a central panel, joined by floral- and scroll-carved brackets to a trestle base with fluted columns and a carved stretcher, h. 31", w. 40-1/4", d. 25". By oral tradition the present table has a long history of ownership in New Orleans.

  • Condition: There are some carving losses to two of the corner brackets. Two others have old cracks and repairs. The table is sturdy. The surface appears to have been repainted and the gold areas touched in. There is wear to the edges of the top and some dings and dents.
