American Federal Mahogany "Butler's Chest"

first quarter 19th century, in the Hepplewhite taste, the upper drawer with an oval veneered panel edged by stringing and opening to reveal a fitted interior, over a bank of three graduated drawers, each with perimeter cross-banding and beading, a scalloped apron and tall flare feet.
h. 44-3/4", w. 43", d. 20-3/4"

  • Condition: **In very good condition; structurally sound and handsomely polished. There are a few minor veneer repairs to skirt and a few scattered "dings" commensurate with age. The brasses are period and likely original. There is minor repair to interior of the writing surface. The hinges were moved in an old repair effort and there is a 3"-4" deep strip of wood the width of writing drawer replaced where hinges were, now nicely restored.
