American Federal String-Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard, first quarter 19th century, with a complex shaped front with a central drawer above a pair of recessed curved cabinet doors and flanked by curved ends, each with a drawer above a cabinet and raised on slender tapered legs, h. 42", w. 69", d. 26".


  • Condition: In overall good condition. The piece has been commercially refinished in the past, and exhibits slightly open grain on the top. Tight, solid and stable. The two side drawers are missing their locks. The right convex drawer has a filled vertical shrinkage crack. Scattered losses to cock-beading at the edges of the drawers. The legs exhibit evidence of past repairs where they join the case. Concealed metal braces have been added to support some legs. The legs may have been reduced at their bottoms.
