American Renaissance Revival Inlaid Walnut Desk

ca. 1865, probably by Gustave Herter, New York, the upper section centered by a satyr-carved crest over banded geometric inlay and a shelf, flanked by a pair of paneled cupboards over drawers, the base with a central drawer flanked by paired drawers, raised on four pairs of fluted columns, the uppermost turnings with carved tops in the Herter manner, and joined by shaped stretchers, utilizing carefully selected walnut burl throughout.
