American School (19th Century), "Mountainous Landscape, Possibly Austria", oil on canvas, 24" x 20". Presented in a period giltwood and gesso frame.
- Condition: Good Estate condition. The painting exhibits signs of previous restoration. Two (2" x 1/4") L-shaped tears to the central right tree branches were repaired from the verso. Some bulging, flaking and losses to pigment are visible on the front at the site of repair. Verso of canvas has been reinforced with a wax/resin treatment, and there is a light surface coating/sealant? that fluoresces white under UV light in the upper left corner and lower left and right areas. Some minor flaking with subsequent inpainting and craquelure are scattered throughout. Condition issues and restoration are not invasively visible.
