American Three-Piece Coin Silver Tea Set

1834-1845, by Gale, Wood & Hughes, New York, New York, including a teapot, h. 6", l. 10-1/4", a covered sugar bowl, h. 4-1/4", w. 7-1/2", and a cream jug, h. 5-1/4", l. 6-1/4", each of fluted oval section and decorated with engraved and bright-cut floral paterae banding and centering a laurel-mantled shield-form cartouche, with domed lids and squared handles, the teapot with gooseneck spout, monogrammed (on the cartouches "HM" opposing "MWM").

Provenance: Lucullus, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Notes: Inscriptions on the underside identify the monograms as those of Henry Munro (1802-1862) of Westchester County, New York, and his daughter Margaret White Munro (1845-1885); additional inscriptions trace the provenance down two more generations, to Margaret's son Henry Munro Bruen (1874-1959) and grandson, the Rev. Henry Munro Bruen, Jr. (1936-2018).
