Anglo-Ceylonese Calamander Wood Work Box, third quarter 19th century, the box with serpentine sides, the inside cover decorated with a male profile in a flower roundel frame, set with various inlaid exotic wood and ivory marquetry-inlaid lidded compartments, the back section lifting up and composed of thread winders and additional compartments, h. 6-3/4", w. 16-1/4", d. 12-1/2".


  • Condition: Some scattered surface scuffs to the top. Shrinkage cracks to some of the lids from age. The ring pull and back plate are off but present. Another backplate is off but present, and lacking its ring pull. Some of the interior corner stops that hold the lids in place are dislodged and need to be re-glued. Minor edge dings to the bottom of the case. Lacking the keyhole escutcheon. No key present.
