Anglo-Indian Inlaid Teak Sideboard in the Aesthetic Taste

ca. 1880, in two parts, the upper section having a hooded cornice with a spindle gallery over an arched looking glass flanked by shelves on reeded columns and pairs of drawers, the base with a bank of four drawers, each with brass bail pulls, over a pair of doors flanked by open arched shelves fronted by a gallery, with scalloped apron and raised on turned legs, adorned throughout with finely executed inlay.
h. 94", w. 83-3/4", d. 23"

  • Condition: **In beautiful condition. Minor wear, scuffs and scratches to the deck from use. Some circular rubs to the drawer fronts from the swinging of the handles. The front left finial is missing its turned ball at the top. There does not appear to be any losses to the inlay. The inlay appears to be of mixed woods including ebony, and the light material looks like bone. Appears to retain its original finish with good color and patina. Comes apart in two sections.
The base measures: 84" wide, 23" deep, 37" tall.
The top measures: 76" wide, 14" deep, 58" tall.
    There are seven working drawers.
No shelf in the lower cabinet.
