Assembled Dresden Hand-Painted Dessert Service, second quarter 20th century, including twelve hand-painted molded and pierced floral-decorated dessert plates, marked by Saxonian Porcelain, Carl Thieme, post-1901, dia. 8-3/4", a hand-painted floral teapot, h. 6-3/4", w. 8-3/4", eight matching cups, h. 2", with twelve matching saucers, dia. 5-3/4", all marked by Schumann, Arzberg, 1932-1996. Provenance: Estate of Alice Evans Pratt, Houston, Texas.


  • Condition: PLATES: Good condition. No wear or indication of use. Several with some darkening to the foot edge (nothing serious). TEAPOT: Some light staining to the recessed lip under the cover. Rubbing to the gilt "stripe" down the handle. SAUCERS: One with a tiny flake chip under the rim edge. Another with a nick to the foot. Six with some degree of rubbing to the gilt ring, two with this ring generally worn. CUPS: Two with a small tea stain at the rim, one with an inverted "V" hairline from the rim (approx. 2" and 1-1/4"). All with some degree of rubbing to the gilt decoration at the rim and the gilt "stripe" down each handle. Most of the above consistent with a right-handed tea lover's consumption.
