  • Condition: Assembled Porcelain Monkey Band: LEADER: Hand holding rolled music reattached. The raised knee with touch-ups to the enamel. Old, very small professional restoration at the rear base edge. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords only, no numbers. VIOLIN: Hat brim restored with a tiny flake chip at the edge. Half of the restored bow lacking, front half of the violin restored with peg box and scroll lacking. Loss to the monkey's tail and a well-integrated restoration at the lower front corner of the pink coat (does not fluoresce). Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords with an incised line underneath. Underglaze impressed: "92" and incised: "6". Tiny faint number in black overglaze. FEMALE SINGER: Good condition. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "13 (1)" and incised: "17". Tiny overglaze rouge de fer "22". HORN PLAYER: Horn bell professionally restored and loss to end of the gathered hair below the ribbon on one front side. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords, overglaze blue "Germany". Underglaze impressed: "4", "1(56)" and "0". FRENCH HORN: Entire horn professionally restored. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "230" and incised: "9" with tiny brown overglaze "11". BASSOON: Bocal and lower end of the bassoon restored. Loss to one front lower corner of the coat. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "152" and incised: "18" with tiny "55" overglaze in dark green. BASE VIOLIN/CELLO: Restored bow with a loss to the upper end and to the hand holding it with losses to the tips of three fingers. Loss to one tuning peg. Old professional restoration to the raised foot. Tiny underglaze firing anomaly at lower coat at one front side. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "590" and incised: "2". MUSIC STAND: Good condition. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze incised: "21". Tiny overglaze: "111". MANDOLIN: Restored break at the neck of the instrument with a tiny flake behind the neck and adjacent loss to the thumb tip. Tiny loss under the tip of the center toe on the forward foot. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "68" and incised: "16". Overglaze "10" in dark green. DRUMMER/PIPER (BLUE): Hat, drumstick, both hands and legs professionally restored (most of these restorations do not fluoresce). Loss to end of pipe, queue and most of the pink ribbon holding the drum. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords. Underglaze impressed: "131" and incised: "14". Overglaze "62" in black. OBOE: Feathers on hat re-glued. Hands and upper two-thirds of the oboe restored. Marks: Underglaze blue "scissors" (probably German). Overglaze "910" in brown. DRUMMER (LAVENDER): Hat restored with tiny flake chip at the upper edge. Restoration to the arm holding the drumstick up into the shoulder and possibly into the body (the lavender shirt exhibits no gloss but does not fluoresce). Restoration at the knee and at the crook of the forward leg. Loss to lower portion of the tail with a flake chip at this ankle. Marks: Underglaze blue "scissors" (probably German). Tiny "80" in brown overglaze. TRUMPET: Tiny old restoration at rear edge of base underneath. Trumpet with irregularities primarily to the bell, the bright gilt generally rubbed. Hands with very little definition but do not fluoresce. Marks: Underglaze indistinct blue "hatch mark". Underglaze Impressed: "220" and incised: "#5". NOTE: All pieces exhibit some degree of rubbing to the gilt.
