Attributed to John Vanderbank the Younger (British/London, 1694-1739), "Portrait of a Young Boy with Feathered Headdress, a Spaniel at His Feet", oil on canvas, 44" x 35". Presented in a later giltwood and gesso frame. Provenance: Estate of Elmira Ann Harrison Parnell Gregorie, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- Condition: Canvas relined. In very good, professionally restored condition. Scattered inpainting touch-ups to the figure and a few places in the background and cloth, but difficult for UV light to completely penetrate the varnish layer. Liner, small scratch to upper left, in the drapery, whitish abrasions to lower right portion of canvas, a few minor abrasions to left edge.
