The subject of this fine, full-length silhouette, Darby O'Grady, was the eldest son of the Sheriff of County Limerick. He wed Ellen George of County Cork, with whom he had ten children. His youngest sibling, Standish, served as Attorney General, was named Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer (Ireland), and was made 1st Viscount Guillamere and 1st Baron O'Grady, in 1831; the title ceased in 1955, upon the death of the 9th Viscount without issue.
