Biscuit Figure of Putti Frolicking with a Goat

ca. 1900, after Francois Duquesnoy (Flemish, 1597-1643), on a scrolled rococo-style base, impressed with a spurious Sevres interlaced "L" mark.
h. 14-1/2", w. 15-1/2", d. 8-3/4"


  • Condition: **Right arm of the putto on the left feeding the goat has been repaired and overpainted, as has 1" of the rockwork beneath its right foot. Sheaf of wheat in left putto's hand has been repaired at the base and all sheaves have minute scattered losses to their tips.
    Right arm of the putto on the goat has been repaired with resultant chip and adhesive still visible. Left foot of putto suckling the goat has been repaired with adhesive.
    A few overpainted "touch-ups" are scattered throughout. Branch on tree behind goat and lower left putto's left hand have been repaired with a dark brown resin that has smeared throughout the goat's underside.
