Cased Victorian Sterling Silver Fish Set

hallmarked Sheffield, 1881-1882, by Harrison Brothers & Howson, including twelve knives with blunt scimitar-shaped blades, l. 8-1/2" and twelve forks with three tines, l. 7-3/8", each with a filled shell-end pistol-style handle, monogrammed "MRB", presented in he original fitted blue velvet- and satin-lined oak case with pift-out tray, the interior lid stamped with the retailer's mark of the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co. Ltd, 2-1/4" x 15-1/4" x 10-1/4"


  • Condition: Some of the pieces have a few bumps and dings associated with pitch-filled handles of the period. All the blades/tines are firmly seated , though some of the fork handles are slightly extruded and one slightly askew. One knife handle has be seated (re-seated) backwards. Each piece fully hallmarked on the blade or tine stem with varying date letters in the range noted but identical maker's marks. The case is solid with some scratches, and several of the interior dividers are detached.
