Chinese Famille Verte Dish, Later Mounted as a Cake Basket

Kangxi period (1672-1722) with later Dutch .833 silver handle marked Utrecht, 1850, by Johannes Mattheus van Kempen, d.j., the circular dish centered by a basket design, filled with blossoming peonies with ribbon tied around the upright handle, with panel borders depicting birds amid flowers and rockwork, the reverse with three individual floral motifs, and a jue (ritual vessel) mark within two concentric bands in underglaze blue, the later shaped, concave silver swing strap handle with acanthus boss mounts and decorated with engraved scrolls on a diapered ground with wrigglework threading.
