Chinese Green Glaze Ceramic Ewer

possibly Liao period (907-1125), of "chicken crested" form, having compressed sides, centrally pierced at the top, and a single short spout, with all-over green glaze, raised on a circular unglazed foot.

  • Condition: **The body of the vase has a shallow chip and some pitting with small losses to glaze/surface scattered throughout. Glaze exhibits fine crazing and some areas of blooming (white clouding). Unglazed base has light soiling and staining. There is a hairline glaze crack (possibly an innate firing fissure) that has opened in the horizontal fold in the ewer body. In overall good condition with no visible repairs or notable losses. Overall height of ewer is closer to 9-1/2" than 9".
