Chinese Porcelain Vase

  • Condition: Poem inscribed on the back of the vase's body about Yang Guifei, one of the great beauties of Chinese history and consort of the Tang emperor Xuanzong. Another inscription on the back of the vessel's neck. Some of the text has faded, but most is still legible. Scene of beautiful women in a garden on the reverse side. A thin scratch is apparent and runs vertically through the garden scene. Some losses to pigment throughout. Dog-shaped handles, both with noticeable losses to gilding. Some residue in the mouth of the vase, can be easily removed. Some wear at foot and rim commensurate with age and use.
