Chinese Red Lacquer Tall Cabinet

first half 20th century, having a short rectangular top over a carved figural frieze surmounting an open upper compartment, the lower section with a carved door depicting paneled scenes of figures in terraced garden settings, the door opening to reveal a shelved interior, the whole raised on four short legs, the front pair carved and pierced.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition. The painted and gilt surfaces exhibit scattered rubbing and wear, some areas of paint loss, light alligatoring to the paint and shrinkage throughout.

    The case is sturdy and stable.

    There is a missing piece of applied carving to a center panel, about 5/8" x 1-3/4".

    The brass rod is missing that slides through the door hardware to secure it in a closed position.
