Collection of Five Meissen Porcelain Figures

19th century, German, including a male winemaker tapping a keg, h. 7-1/2", w. 3-3/4", a female winemaker using a jug and funnel to fill a keg, h. 7", w. 3-1/2", a figural group of two children with their dog, h. 5-3/4", w. 5", a boy feeding ducks, h. 5", dia. 2-1/2", and a female in a delicately molded dress, playing cards, h. 6-1/2", dia. 2-1/2", each with various underglaze blue crossed sword marks.


Provenance: Collection of Julia Brooks and Clarke Thomas Reed, Greenville, Mississippi.


  • Condition: **MALE WINEMAKER:
    The handle of one spigot and the end of the other lacking in the raised hand. The lower hand with an enamel loss to the forefinger possibly indicating a tiny restoration although the other digits and spigot appear to be alright. The hat with a tiny nick to the brim edge in front. The balance good.
    Underglaze: "F80" in script and "156" impressed, along with an old inventory number in black marker.
    Marks are detail #4 online.

    FEMALE WINEMAKER:
    Good condition.
    Underglaze: "F.80." in script and impressed: "86n" along with an old inventory number in black marker matching the one for the above.
    Marks are detail #4 online.

    TWO CHILDREN WITH DOG:
    Figures all good. Tree with losses to limbs and leaves, basket of flowers and base with scattered losses to bocage.
    Underglaze: "F. 91" in script and "72" impressed, along with "31." in overglaze gold.
    Marks are detail #3 online (partial).

    BOY FEEDING DUCKS:
    Two small losses to the black bow and to tip of one duck's bill, along with scattered nicks to greenery.
    Base good.
    Underglaze: "C. 41" in script and "48" impressed.
    Marks are detail #2 online.

    FEMALE PLAYING CARDS:
    Overall good condition. Good portion of lace intact with typical scattered losses to tips.
    Underglaze: "F64." in script and "127" impressed along with rouge de fer: "35."
    Marks are detail #5 online.
