Collection of Four Meissen Porcelain Figures

German, including a figural group depicting autumn, winter and summer, ca. 1850-1924, h. 8", w. 5-3/4", d. 4"; a figure of two cupid cloth sellers, ca. 1730-1768, h. 6-3/4", w. 5-3/4", d. 3-1/2"; and two 20th-century figures, a gardener, h. 4-1/4", w. 4-1/2", d. 3", and a flower seller, h. 5", dia. 2".


Provenance: Collection of Julia Brooks and Clarke Thomas Reed, Greenville, Mississippi.


  • Condition: **AUTUMN, WINTER and SUMMER:
    AUTUMN:
    Small losses to leaf tips of the grapevine crown. Old, professional restoration to the lowered arm from the elbow, across the side, drape, through the pitcher into the raised knee. Spigot lacking.
    WINTER:
    Small professional restoration to the outer foot. Otherwise good.
    SPRING:
    Old professional restoration to upper portion of wheat along with a loss to the scythe blade. Otherwise good.

    Old professional restorations to leaves on the center tree with losses to two leaves.
    Base good. Underside with underglaze: "1068" in script.
    Marks are detail # 3 on website.

    CLOTH SELLERS:
    Both figures with a loss to end of one wing.
    LEFT FIGURE:
    Loss to outer end of measuring stick along with the adjacent thumb tip.
    RIGHT FIGURE:
    Two tiny restorations along the rope through hands and down to bale.

    Base good. Underside with underglaze: "2946" in script and impressed: "201".
    Tiny rouge de fer overglaze: "43" at one end.
    Marks are deatil # 4 on website.

    GARDENER:
    Overall good condition. Couple of losses to leaf tips (one professionally touched up).
    Base good with underglaze: "G. 100" by hand and impressed: "86n".
    Marks are detail # 5 on website.

    FLOWER SELLER:
    Loss to tip of first digit of hand holding basket along with a TINY scuff or two to the knuckles of this hand. Small rear section of the basket and one flower in it lacking adjacent to the body.

    Base good. Impressed underglaze in script: "A.64" and "152-" and overglaze in rouge de fer: "36".
