fourth quarter 19th century, each painted on a gilt ground, the subjects including Zeus riding an eagle, Venus on a shell, Ceres harvesting wheat, Dionysus dancing with grapes, a water nymph with a jug and a maenad, female follower of Dionysus.

  • Condition: **In good estate condition. A few of the panels have some buckling to their canvas supports and "nail pops" at edges. All exhibit minor losses to figures and gold ground with some inpainted "retouching" and probable repairs scattered throughout. Surface soiling and craquelure are present. The panels were not examined under UV light.
