Continental Polychrome and Marble-Top Commode, late 18th century, the bowed marble top with turret corners, above a conforming case fitted with three drawers, all paneled and with carved foliate accents, raised on bun feet, h. 35", w. 57", d. 32".


  • Condition: In "as found" condition. There are scattered surface scuffs and stains to the marble and an old, small chunk gone to the back edge. Shrinkage cracks to the left side panel and numerous losses to the applied carved ornamentation. Flaking and scattered paint loss throughout. The top two drawers are lacking their keyhole covers. The bottom drawer has small carving loss below the keyhole. This drawer fights tightly. Some molding loss along the lower edge of the left side. Two small pieces off, but present.
