Continental Silver Claret Jug and Charger

first quarter 20th century, the jug unmarked, with spiral-gadrooned glass body and silver handle, with rococo-style silver foot, collar and hinged lid, h. 11-3/4", the charger by P. Bruckmann & Sohne, Heilbronn, .835 silver, lobed with embossed fruit and floral rim and beaded edge, dia. 15-1/4".

Provenance: By descent in the Kilp Family, Germany; to Antonio (1885-1959) and Carola (1895-1967) Kilp, Wiesbaden, Germany; to their daughter Carmelita Kilp Blackburn (1923-2017), Sugar Land, Texas.


  • Condition: Charger has accretions (polish residue and tarnish) and minor surface scuffs and scratches. On claret, lid spout is slightly bent and does not close tightly with jug rim and spot.
