Continental Silver Wine Trolley
fourth quarter 19th century, probably German, with Dutch import marks, 12 Lot (.750) silver, the wine cradle with chain strap and decorated with mascarons and cabochon cartouches, the heel with a caryatid, raised on a scrolling wirework carriage with one small and two large wheels, the larger wheels centered with a cabochon-cut amethyst.
h. 10-1/2", l. 12-3/4", w. 6-1/2"; 32.60 t. oz.
-
Condition: **In generally good condition, with some wear consistent with age and use: scattered bumps, dings and scuffs. No breaks or repairs. There is a 4" x 1" area of spotting and light pitting on the interior where the heel of the wine bottle would rest, presumably acidic corrosion from exposure to wine. Scattered oxidation, removable with a proper cleaning. The wheels have a slight wobble but are secure and functional.
