Continental Silverplate Wine Cooler, first quarter 20th century, of inverted pear form, decorated with repousse Bacchic masques, with wavy rim, ribbon handles and raised on four acanthus scroll feet, h. 10", w. 10".

  • Condition: Two of the feet are dented at the very bottom, but otherwise no significant dents noted, though there are some scattered negligible bumps. A small hole has been repaired on the underside with visible solder. That this is silvered, as well as some scattered pitting, suggests that the piece has been re-plated, though not recently, as the surface has a nice patina and some light wear to relief. Similar pitting and dark spotting on the interior, probably from use as a vase. No maker's/trademarks. An attractive and usual piece.
