Diminutive Pair of French Bronze and Marble Lamps in the Beaux-Arts Taste

first quarter 20th century, the bases with engine turning and molded lotus leaves, the satyr-head handles set on the sides and topped with rope-twist scrolls, the bronze-framed shades with fringe-trimmed pleated silk and palmette-pierced shade holders.
h. 20", dia. 12"

Provenance: Private collection Mobile, Alabama

  • Condition: One lamp has a small loss to the edge of the bronze cover on the bowl standard, and a "flea-bite" chip to the marble base. Bronze standards exhibit some soiling, scratches and oxidation to gilt patina. Lamps are in overall good condition. Shades have some soiling, staining, tears, rips and insect damage- one is notably more damaged than the other.
