late 18th century, the rectangular top above a slant front opening to a storage well and various drawers and cubbyholes, flanking a central cupboard over a bombe base fitted with three long drawers, raised on paw feet, the whole elaborately inlaid in scrolling foliate and floral marquetry.

  • Condition: **In overall good condition, exhibiting normal wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use, including a number of scattered veneer repairs utilizing both wood and filler.

    The case is tight and solid.

    Veneer repairs around the perimeter edges of the top, filler and veneer repairs to a horizontal shrinkage tear on the lid, one case return, and about 10" down the other side of the case. Scattered smaller veneer repairs elsewhere. The marquetry appears to be original to the case.

    Drawer pulls/brasses are replaced. Locks replaced. The escutcheon for the lid is replaced with an area of filler above it.

    There is a loss to the inside edge of an inner toe on one front foot.
