Dutch Mahogany and Marquetry Secretaire a Abattant, late 19th century, the rectangular top above a single frieze drawer over a drop-front opening to an inset leather writing surface and a variety of drawers and cubbyholes, with two cabinet doors below, raised on block feet, the whole richly inlaid in floral, scrolling foliate and avian patterns, h. 52-1/2", w. 35-1/2", d. 15-1/2".

  • Condition: There are some professionally filled shrinkage cracks to the top surface, and pieced-in splices at the front left on the rear left corners. The top drawer is missing the brass keyhole. The drop-lid has a long horizontal shrinkage crack across the lower portion. This crack has affected the surface of the interior writing surface as well. There are veneer chips and losses to the lower edges of the front legs. Some cross-grain shrinkage lines to both sides. Retains a beautiful refinished surface.
