Early George III Sterling Silver Inkstand

hallmarked London, 1768-1769, by William Plummer, of compartmented rectangular form, with scrolling pierced gallery and wavy gadrooned rim, fitted with two glass wells (ink and pounce) with silver caps, the whole raised on openwork acanthus scroll feet.
h. 2", l. 7-1/4", w. 3-3/4"; 11.55 total t. oz. (excluding glass wells)

  • Condition: **Caps are not matching and may be replacements. The wells are slightly discolored/stained and have some scratches on the bottoms. A section of the piercework on the inside of the basket is detached.
