Early Victorian Circassian Walnut Lap Desk on Stand

second quarter 19th century, the brass-bound desk with a lift-top exposing a tooled leather writing surface and fitted interior, on a later stained beechwood stand with tapering legs.

  • Provenance: Blackamoor Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Condition: **In "as found" condition with normal mars, shrinkage and wear.

    There are two detached brass straps that are present.

    The interior tooled leather writing surface exhibits tears at its fold.

    One associated glass bottle is present. There is an open niche for another similar bottle.

    The stand is tight and sturdy.
