Early Victorian Silverplate Meat Dome and Platter, second quarter 19th century, retailed by William Burton & Co., London, oval with insulated well-and-tree platter and conforming quarter-lobed dome, with robust acanthus handles and feet, overall, h. 14", l. 24-1/2", w. 17-1/2".


  • Condition: In overall good, usable condition. All pieces present. The mounted handle with several indentations from age and use. The well-fitted dome having several scratches, pitting and minor dents as well as some silverplate loss. The base with numerous scratches concentrating mainly around the flange of the recessed meat well. Some deep flakes where silverplate is absent. The base having dents and pitting throughout, the whole sitting square on all four feet. The bottom of the piece having several deeper indentations to the water reservoir, along with scratches and wear, all consistent with age and use.
