Notes: As the first Professor of Art at Newcomb College Art Department, Ellsworth Woodward taught painting classes which included lessons in still lives. Woodward became director of the college and introduced the art pottery program of Newcomb Pottery as an enterprise for talented young women.

  • Condition: **Previously restored and relined; retaining original stretcher bars; surface dirt and toning of the varnish layer; signs of inpainting lower mid center (table top by glass of flowers); two small surface losses mid right; small white dot accretions; diagonal surface mark lower mid right; surface abrasions along edges and corners; stretcher bar mark visible upper center.
    Frame with surface marks, nicks and abrasions; small losses in corners.
