Empire Premier Marble and Bronze Dore et Patine Figural Mantel Clock

first quarter 19th century, French, the rosso antico marble case decorated with a large gilt mount beneath a figure of the blind Homer carrying a young boy, mounted with a silk-string suspension movement marked "GD", beneath a helmet and wreath symbolizing war and peace.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition. Retaining original patinated and gilt surfaces. Everything appears intact. Two small divots on top of the marble above clock case possibly where screws attached pieces, and two on the surface of the base on either side of the big mount. Crack in the marble across the lower right corner below the mount, about 1/2" x 1/2".

    NOTE: Dial is tarnished.
