Empress Dowager Cixi (Chinese, 1835-1908), "Phoenix on a Rocky Outcrop", gouache on paper, 33-1/4" x 17". In a contemporary giltwood frame.
- Condition: In overall good estate condition. There is a partial tear toward the bottom with resultant small scattered losses near the left bottom center. Though not examined out of frame, tear appears superficial. Exhibits some creasing from having been previously rolled and minor foxing to top border. Gouache retains vibrant clarity of colors.
