English Carved Pine Artist's Lay Figure, first quarter 19th century, will fully articulated ball joints and incised facial features, h. 36-1/2", w. 11-1/2", d. 5-1/2". Provenance: The Flatt Collection.

  • Condition: There are a few old professional carved piece-patch repairs to the following areas: right leg just above and below the inside and outside of the knee; to the back of the skull; to the lower back just above the torso ball joint; and to the rear of the right shoulder. There is a 1/2" loss above the last repair. Two small parallel holes are present at the top of the head, suggestive of a mounting apparatus. There are light scuffs, nicks and abrasions, which is to be expected with age and utilitarian use. The figure is structurally sound and functional.
