English Chippendale Tall Case Clock

third quarter 18th century, the mahogany-cased clock on ogee bracket feet, the center door with a reverse serpentine top, flanked by fluted columns, the hood support with a band of fret carving, topped with carved Gothic arches and fret-carved molding, the hood set with fluted columns, and a carved swan's-neck pediment inset with black and gilt eglomise panels, the brass dial with spandreled corners, a silvered chapter ring and a moon phase movement, signed "Tinney, Liverpool".

  • Condition: **Scattered old, minor repairs to the fretwork trim. Approximately 3" of the dentil molding gone to the top right rear corner of the hood. Lacking its finials. The silvered parts to the face are tarnished and the chapters with losses to their black wax inlay. The right eglomise panel in the hood has an old crack. Retains its pendulum, weights and winding key.

    Currently in running condition, although we do not guarantee the working condition of timepieces.
