English Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy

third quarter 19th century, on brass ball feet, the two-compartment tea caddy with a foil-lined interior fitted with two covers, and a slightly domed top decorated with line-inlaid tortoise.

  • Condition: **There are a few small, well-done repairs to the edges of the tortoiseshell case and to the edge of one of the fitted covers. On the bone inlay on the inside of the case rim, the front piece above the lock has been replaced by a resin replica, and there are a few other tiny repairs to the edges and corner of the bone. In overall good condition. Condition is commensurate with age, materials and use.
