Exceptional French Empire Gilt-Bronze Clock

first quarter 19th century, the clock supported by a pair of Eros figures, with a crest depicting a rose blooming with an emerging angel, with a rectangular tablet mounted with figures of Venus and Adonis, supported on swan-form feet, on a gilt-bronze plinth set on bun feet, mounted with a silk-string suspension movement.
h. 21", w. 15-1/2", d. 6"

  • Provenance: The Estate of Bonnie Bolding Swearingen, Birmingham, Alabama.
  • Condition: **In very good condition. Minor fine hairlines around the outer edge of the porcelain face. Very pleasing gilt surface to the clock. The platform base, however, is slightly tarnished. The cupid in the crest is missing the arrow from his left hand.
    Pendulum is present.
    Winding key is present.
