Exceptional Paris Porcelain Neoclassical Urn, first quarter 19th century, the top of the urn with a ring of biscuit flowers, above a portrait of the Goddess Clio, writing on a page marked "Histoire" on the central reserve panel, framed in laurel leaves, the base with carefully detailed tooled gilt, the whole on a marble base, probably Dagoty based on the combination of the biscuit flowers and marble base, h. 14-1/2", dia. 8-1/2".

  • Condition: Elegant urn in very good condition. Gilding intact overall with very minor rubbing around the the foot. Some oxidation to the oak leaf-decorated band UNDER the lip. The biscuit floral ring with typical scattered small losses to flower petals. The butterscotch body and "Clio" reserve all good. The lower interior of the urn with a series of old hairlines--all appear to be stabile. The marble base with typical scattered dings and small losses to the lower edge at one side and a shallow flake chip to the lower side of one corner. There are several faint hairlines visible underneath with a thin one through the top from side to side, this professionally stabilized with filler.
