  • Provenance: Koopman Rare Art, The London Silver Vaults.
  • Condition: **In overall good condition, with no breaks, losses or repairs to the cast openwork on the base. One bottle handle has spots of silver solder on the top and bottom where it has been professionally reattached to the collar, with the terminal scroll slightly dented and compressed. Wear to the details on the collars suggest that the bottles might be later replacements. The glass elements are in good condition with some minor nicks and flakes, but no cracks or large chips. Hallmarked (on the underside of the base) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "A" for 1756-1757; and 4) the "PT" maker's mark of Peter Taylor; marks clean and crisp, with some light wear on the right side of the maker's mark. The collars part-marked (on the underside of the spout) with the (very rubbed) maker's mark. An attractive and uncommon piece.
