Fine Pair of Charles X Marquetry-Inlaid and Line-Strung Bird's-Eye Maple Side Chairs

first quarter 19th century, of gondola form, the molded top rail joined to stiles curving to join above the saber legs, the seat rail with central marquetry, the marquetry and stringing executed in rosewood.

  • Condition: One chair has minor imperfections and small flaked veneer losses to the veneer at the ends of the crest. The front proper left leg is loose and there is a tear to the veneer on the side apron at this joint. There is a very small piece of string inlay gone to a back leg.
    The other chair is solid and sturdy.
    Both have slight sun fading to their back sides. The fabic is torn and mildly soiled.
